Categorical or Numerical Data, Oh My!!
We have begun to talk about collecting data in math. We looked at bar graphs and discussed if the graphs showed categorical or numerical data. Here is what we talked about in class.
Categorical Data - when people are surveyed they are asked about a category. For example: What is your favorite color? What is your favorite pet?
Numerical Data - When people are surveyed they are asked about a number. For example: How many people are in your family? How many pets do you have?
